Former professional basketball player Eric Pierre and Pierre Accounting have played a key role in helping feed over 1000 of San Diego's local heroes. Eric and his firm have been generous supporters of the Cielo Sports team and their "Help the Heroes" initiative.

Help the Heroes was created as a response to share God's love to local San Diego Hospitals' COVID-19 Response Teams, during the pandemic.  Each event serves delicious lunches to local doctors and nurses, and includes a diverse group of professional athletes to help serve the first-responders. Cielo Sports is a ministry whose mission is to "Share God's Love To and Through Athletes", and was founded by Eric's friend Marcus Preciado.

The two met several years ago while Marcus was the Campus Pastor of the Rock Church's Point Loma campus. Eric stepped into the sanctuary after browsing the church's book store. He did not intend to stay for the Sunday evening service but felt compelled to give the preacher a couple minutes of his time, after noticing Marcus wearing a pair of Eric's favorite shoes, Jordans.

Marcus recalls, "I remember reading his email that mentioned him deciding to stay because I was wearing some Js that night. I immediately knew I had to connect with him and reached out right away." Eric and Marcus scheduled a lunch and discussed church, ministry, social issues and Jordans.

Eric, who owns and runs a thriving accounting firm with offices in Texas and Southern California, was the first person to commit to financially supporting Marcus and his vision for Cielo Sports late last year. Since then God has opened up amazing doors for both Cielo Sports and Pierre Accounting. Marcus expresses, "In a time where most people and business have understandably minimized their financial support of local ministries, Eric has done the exact opposite. Although it seems impractical and counterintuitive. he has increased his commitment and his generosity. And we both have seen God do amazing things as a result."

On a recent sunny San Diego Friday afternoon, Marcus was joined by a group of amazing local San Diego athletes to make sure that the team 300 first-responders at Pomerado Medical Center felt loved, appreciated and encouraged. Charlie Joiner (NFL HOF WR), Ruppert Jones (MLB All-Star), Nick Novak (NFL Kicker), Roberto Wallace (NFL WR), and Rick Takahashi (12 Time National Champion Surfer), helped make this event an unforgettable day for everyone involved.

Eric and his firm are a great example of how the mission of "Sharing God's Love To and Through Athletes", is being fulfilled.
